Looking for that hometown feeling in a growing community? Star, Idaho is the place for you. Sitting only -15 miles from downtown Boise, Star’s population has grown by about 2,500 residents in the last two years. This influx has created the need for more homes and real estate developments have shown up surrounding the community. Many new construction homes have been built in Star in the last 10 years.

The Boise River comes through just south of Star and provides endless opportunities for outdoor fun in the summertime. Floating the river is a favorite activity and can be done in the backyard of Star.
Even though Star is small in stature, the community of businesses is still growing. The Star Merc is the center of town and the only grocery store in the city of Star. Here you can buy your groceries and other necessities without making the drive into the neighboring city, Eagle. In recent years, many businesses have decided to plant their roots in Star.


The Meridian School District is the largest school district in Idaho and serves the areas in and around Star. In the Meridian School District, high schools are 9th through 12th grade, middle schools are 6th through 8th and elementary schools are Kindergarten through 5th grade. If one of the requirements for you is to have a golf course in your close-proximity; River Birch Golf Course is located just on the outskirts of Star. If you want a good course that is reasonably priced and not too difficult this is the one for you.
Golf doesn’t quench your thirst for the outdoors? About a ten-minute drive from the city center of Star up Highway 16 is Firebird Raceway. Races are held nearly every weekend during the summer months on the quarter-mile drag strip. With Star’s small-town feeling and bright future, it continues to be a great place to raise a family.
