Elevate Your Kitchen from Basic to Amazing!

For many, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s a space for family and friends to gather and share. Whether sharing meals, memories, daily events, or just a cup of coffee. The kitchen is a central space in the home where congregation happens naturally. Check out these 2017-2018 kitchen trends that will take your kitchen to the next level.

White & Grey

Timeless white is a go-to for many homeowners. White cabinets, counters, and backsplash creates a fresh and open feel to a kitchen, no matter how big or small it is. It’s no surprise that white kitchens are continuing to grow in popularity. They’re easy to clean, they make the kitchen look crisp and inviting, and you can basically decorate a white kitchen any way you like and it will look fabulous against the refreshing white base color!

Want a little color? Grey is making a huge splash in 2017 kitchen trends. Not only does grey lend a sophisticated and sleek feel to the kitchen, it’s neutral enough to pair with cool green and blue tones as well as bright yellows and oranges for a burst of accent color. Let any shade of grey be the base for your kitchen and see how quickly it transforms the room!

Quartz & Granite

Tons of homeowners are making the upgrade from laminate counters to quartz, and for good reason. With the development of composite surfaces, natural stone is now easier and more affordable than ever for kitchen and bathroom countertops. Not only does quartz increase the luxury look and value of a kitchen, it’s easy to maintain and resists chips, burns, and scratches.

The other family-friendly natural stone option for kitchen countertops is durable granite. Deciding between quartz and granite is really a personal preference. Both are resistant and add a luxurious quality to any kitchen. Unlike quartz, don’t forget that it’s suggested that granite counters need to be sealed annually to prevent staining. Whether you go with granite or quartz, natural stone countertops will elevate your kitchen instantly!

Dark Floors & Bright Tile

If you go with a lighter base color for your kitchen, consider completing the room with dark, rich wood floors. A dark floor will warm up the room while making the lighter cabinets and counters pop! Previous kitchen trends showcased darker cabinets and counters with lighter colored floors. 2017 and 2018 are flipping that standard upside-down, creating a buzzworthy kitchen trend!

Bright tile flooring is a fun option that many people are opting for when renovating a kitchen. Skip the bright backsplash and go straight to the floors! With colorful tile floors, you can forgo adding color to the kitchen with expensive kitchen rugs, and instead add statement floor tiles that are much more practical for a high traffic kitchen.

Modern & Traditional Features

With so many new kitchen gadgets and features to choose from, you can easily take any kitchen from basic to ultra modern! Consider installing a touch activated faucet, or color changing LED accent lights under your cabinets to add a fun modern twist. Many homeowners are opting for a modern take on refrigerators, installing counter high refrigerated cabinets to their kitchen islands for easy access.

With so many high-tech options currently available, balancing those with traditional kitchen features is a nice way to keep that inviting and welcoming kitchen vibe. Consider taking out those kitchen cabinets and replacing them with repurposed wooden shelves for a nostalgic feel. Growing herbs in the window, or keeping spices out in the open in vintage containers lends to an organic and traditional feel that many homeowners are looking to combine with their modern appliances. This trend of combining traditional with modern features is showing up in many of Boise’s North End homes, merging nostalgia with new technology!
